Welding and Metal Fabrication – The Process Explained

Posted:

Our cities and major industries are built on metal, specifically steel. We bend it, forge it and manipulate it into the sizes and strengths we need it to be and you can’t go anywhere without seeing metal. When it comes to providing welding and metal fabrication services, trust the experts at Wisconsin Metal Fab, LLC for a wide array of applications in line with commercial and industrial requirements.

The Process

One of the first steps in preparing steel for welding and metal fabrication is cutting, usually by sawing, shearing, or laser or plasma cutting. At Wisconsin Metal Fab, LLC, we utilize band saws, CNC shears, and precision laser and plasma cutting tables. The material then must be formed, often using press brakes or rollers. Programming software makes both the cutting and bending of these materials neat and clear-cut, and offers greater accuracy and repeatability. Through welding, riveting and hardware, the fine-cut pieces are combined into an assembly, often referred to as a weldment.

Wisconsin Metal Fab

Serving companies all over the United States, Wisconsin Metal Fab excels in all facets of welding and metal fabrication. From the print or drawing stage to the finished product, we’re committed to creating the finest product for our customers. We offer custom fabricated pieces in steel, stainless steel and aluminum and accommodate small and large orders, from single, simple parts to large runs of intricate assemblies.

Welding has been a key component of metal fabrication since the first blacksmiths joined two pieces of iron together in their forges. Today, the process is more refined, more streamlined, and often automated, but it’s still growing and changing. There are countless welding methods and standards, and it’s up to us, as leaders in the metal fabrication industry, to keep up with this ever-changing environment to provide you, our customer, with the best product.
